QEC Expands Global Market
Enriched Content Website

QEC has combined its selection of highly engineered and precisely manufactured plastic labware into an exclusive brand of singular quality: UltraLab Plasticware.

Lab Grade quality is the default standard for QEC plastics. Yet there are times when demanding conditions and applications require containers that are a notch or two above lab grade. This is the reason behind UltraLab. We carefully select containers made with exacting quality standards to be included in our UltraLab line.

These premium quality translucent HDPE and polypropylene rigid plastic containers are excellent for sampling sludge, soil, and water for metals. Constructed from top-quality laboratory-grade resins, UltraLab containers undergo rigorous pre-manufacturing design inspections and testing:

  • Dimensional check to maintain consistency from bottle to bottle
  • Wall thickness check to ensure strength and durability
  • Thread integrity check for consistent, reliable fit between bottle and closure
  • Pressure test to confirm leakproof fit

Polypropylene closures are leakproof, molded to withstand excessive vibration and to eliminate closure back-off during shipping. Bottles sized 250ml (8oz) and larger have a recycling code molded into the base.

  • UltraLab Wide Mouth: Easy filling and pouring. Good for sampling and storing solid and semi-solid materials. Available in four sizes in case and bulk quantities.
  • UltraLab Narrow Mouth: Ideal for water, waste water, and other liquid samples. Good choice for storage of liquids or powders.
  • UltraLab Polypropylene Wide Mouth bottles are an excellent choice for packaging environmental and laboratory samples. Heavy threaded caps are designed to be torque-closed.

Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule 3 (UCMR3) requires monitoring of public drinking water systems for 30 contaminants. There are seven EPA Methods that make up UCMR3 with specific requirements for sample container type and preservation for each method.

QEC has a comprehensive program that meets the specific container and preservation requirements spelled out in UCMR3. QEC has been a major supplier of specially prepared containers for UCMR1 and UCMR2, earning a reputation as a trustworthy partner with a proven track record for meeting the critical supply demands of these special monitoring programs.

QEC has a variety of container options that are UCMR3 compliant for the EPA Methods shown in the table. For more information please email or call 800-255-3950.

QEC recently launched a major upgrade to its website, with more products and more technical information in a redesigned, easy-to-navigate structure.

More than a year in development, the expanded site contains four times as many products as the old site, including the addition of some exciting new product lines. New product listings include chromatography, headspace products, polypropylene bottles, an expanded selection of Custom-Preserved™ vials (including trip blanks), and our new UltraLab line of premium plasticware.

Technical Information
QEC has gone to great lengths to create a content-rich site that has much more than our extensive product listings. Our Tech Info menu includes:

  • An On-line Sampling Guide lists holding times, sample sizes, preservatives and recommended containers for EPA Methods and Standard Methods for more than 80 parameters from Acidity to Volatile Organics.
  • Quality Assurance data for VOA vials is available on our site. QEC Level 3 VOA vials meet or surpass EPA detection standards for 88 compounds. Now visitors to our website can see the figures for themselves.
  • Downloadable MSDS PDFs are now posted on QEC's site. We routinely ship the hard copy MSDS with each product (where appropriate), and now customers have the option to obtain any MSDS they need at any time from our website.
  • Technical illustrations and specifications are now available for our VOA vials, storage vials and chromatography vials.

In addition to the site's Tech Info menu, qecusa.com also has useful information linked to our catalog pages, such as: a Chemical Resistance Chart for plasticware; User Guide for soil sample extraction tools; Capabilities Comparisons for gas sampling bags; and Helpful Tips for packing sample coolers.

Also, all our pre-cleaned products have links to our Cleaning/Standards page, which describes QEC preparation levels and EPA washing/preparation procedures.

Enriched Product Listings
QEC product listings contain much more information and discussion about features and uses for each product category than was the case on the old site.

An easily-navigated drill-down structure leads the visitor to progressively more specific information, from product category to product family to an individual numbered item that can be placed in our CustomQuote basket. Product pages feature product details and descriptions and a thumbnail photo that links to a large (600x600 pixels) product photo.

Products and other content on the new qecusa.com are more accessible thanks to an extensive database that you can search by either product number or key word. Correcting the lack of a search function was a major goal in developing the new site.

Hundreds of New Products
QEC has added significantly to its product line, with many new items along with expanded offerings in our traditional product categories:

  • UltraLab Plasticware is QEC's line of premium quality HDPE and polypropylene plastic containers. Constructed of top-quality laboratory resins, these containers undergo rigorous inspections and testing to assure consistent quality and durability.
  • More Custom-Preserved™ Vials: QEC has always carried preserved HCL vials. Now we've expanded our in-stock Custom-Preserved™ vials to include 40mL vials preserved with sodium thiosulfate, ascorbic acid, and maleic acid/ascorbic acid. We also have trip blanks prepared with DI water and hydrochloric acid. As always with QEC Custom-Preserved™, we can prepare any of our vials with any preservative you specify.
  • Headspace Products are a recent addition to QEC's product line that is now on full display on our website. With more options and features than can be listed here, QEC can provide headspace vials and closures for almost any autosampler in use anywhere in the world.
  • Polypropylene Bottles are available in QEC UltraLab and Lab Grade plasticware (16 and 8 oz UltraLab, 2 oz Lab Grade). QEC also carries an all-purpose 4 oz polypropylene specimen cup.
  • Gas Sampling Bags offered from QEC include ALTEF, multi-foil and Tedlar in one liter and two liter sizes. Bags are shipped with labels attached or in the box. Customers have their choice of standard or custom valve fittings.

Positioned for the Future
The new qecusa.com is built on a database-driven content management system that is far more robust and flexible than traditional static html-based sites. This means we can make changes and upgrades more quickly with no site downtime. As we develop the site over the coming year, we will add richer, more interactive content for a more enjoyable and useful experience for our customers and visitors.
